Have you tried check-a-trade in the UK? Might be a good idea to give this site a wide birth, i.e. my advice is to stay the hell away from this site as its full of sharks.
I wanted my garden doing, hedge trimming and patio and garden paths weeding. I got three replies and I basically took the first one that showed up to give me a quote. Big mistake, I negotiated them down from £200 to £150 and expected them to do a good job for that money.
Nopers, the hedge was alright but the rest was done so badly it might as well not been done at all. The guy had me sign off on his work while I had guests in the house so my bad I didn't really look at it, when I did finally come to look at the work there were things done badly or not at all. So I got in touch with them, was told I signed off on the work so tough shit!
I tried half a dozen times to put in a negative review about this company, the platform wouldn't have it. There was only one existing negative review, and guess what? It was so similar to what happened to me!
So lesson learned, I was over charged and the work done was not good, but this was a company with glowing reviews. So my conclusion is that check-a-trade is a total con, and my advice is to stay away from it!
